Gov. LePage’s daughter leaves government job for campaign

We interrupt our regularly-scheduled revelations from Governor LePage’s recent public event to bring you some late-breaking news from LePage’s inner circle. I’ll have more from the Informed Women audio recording tomorrow morning.

According to an email sent by LePage campaign Senior Adviser Brent Littlefield, who also runs LePage’s dark money group and is currently ducking media inquiries regarding his behind-the-scenes role in a 2011 casino referendum, Lauren LePage will be leaving her job as Assistant to the Chief of Staff for her father’s administration and will join the staff of his re-election campaign.

LePage was harshly criticized for hiring his daughter in 2010, with the Democratic Party calling it a “brazen display of political nepotism.” Since then, she has by most accounts performed her job ably and has maintained a close personal and professional relationship with her father.

In the email, Littlefield asked that recipients not make the move public, writing “This is not an official campaign announcement. This email is being sent to a select group of people to keep you in the loop regarding movements in the campaign.”

The letter was forwarded to me by someone who obviously didn’t heed that request.

Happy to announce that today Lauren LePage is joining the Re-Elect Governor LePage 2014 campaign staff.

Lauren is moving over from the Governor’s office to help coordinate fundraising and assist with our kick-off and ramp up of the campaign.

She joins me and Cindy Faulkner who, as you know, has been working on the Governor’s fundraising programs.

Should you need to reach Lauren moving forward please contact her at [redacted].

Additional contact information for the campaign will be provided as we move forward.  In keeping with our past efforts we continue endeavoring to keep our overhead low.  As always you can reach me through this email, through [redacted], through my office number below or my mobile [redacted].

I would ask that you please not post this announcement on Facebook, a website, or send out within a mass email.  Please do not include this in a newsletter.  This is not an official campaign announcement.  This email is being sent to a select group of people to keep you in the loop regarding movements in the campaign.  Thank you.
